Yes, that title is correct. A Magic 8 Ball makes every single important decision in my life. It's true. But before I get into why, here's a little background on me...

I'm an overthinking introvert. I absolutely admit it. I'm proud of it. I don't want to change myself at all. That being said though, sometimes my overthinking, overanalyzing brain can rationalize out all sides of a situation sometimes making it really hard to make decisions in my life. Especially those really complicated decisions where I have thoughts on what to do from all angles and all perspectives, which then makes it so very difficult to answer the question, "What do I really want?"

Do you find yourself doing that as well? A hard decision to be made... and you're thinking about all the different ways that decision will impact not only yourself but also anyone and everyone who has the slightest bit of involvement in said decision. I know I do and then I'm left with absolute exhaustion at trying to figure out the best course of action only to be stuck in a freeze-mode, unable to make a decision at all.

That is until I started using my Magic 8 Ball. Yes, this is a photo of my own beloved Magic 8 Ball. She is over 20 years young and still going and I still use her for any and all hard decisions in my life. Now before you write me off as a crazy lady (which I fully admit I am), let me explain exactly how I use my Magic 8 Ball to make decisions and you might find yourself on the hunt to purchase one.

When I have a decision plaguing me and I don't know which way to go, which path to start going down, I grab my trusty Magic 8 Ball and hold her in my hands with the "8" pointing up. Then while swirling the ball around, I ask my "yes/no" question. Usually it starts with "Should I do...". Then I turn over the Magic 8 Ball to read what she says. Now here is THE MOST IMPORTANT PART... it does not matter what answer she gives me. What matters most is what sensation I get in my body when I read her answer. Did I feel a pit in my stomach? Or did I feel a release of weight off my shoulders? Whatever sensation my Magic 8 Ball gave me, that's what I need to use to help me choose my decision.

A specific example that I've never told anyone... the Magic 8 Ball told me to exclusively date my husband (who I've been married to now for 22 years). At the time, we were very casual. I was going out on dates with him and another guy. Nothing serious, even he said he didn't want anything serious. I started to have deeper feelings though and wasn't sure if he felt the same or if he would even be willing to try exclusivity out and see where it took us. So, I held my Magic 8 Ball, swirled her around and asked her, "Should I be exclusive with this guy?". Her answer said "Definitely Not" and my heart sank into the pit of my stomach. That sensation told me exactly what I need to go after. My heart truly wanted to be with this man so I made the decision to go with it, to see where it took me, and here I am 22 years of marriage and 25 years of being together as a couple.

The concept of using the Magic 8 Ball this way isn't actually to answer all your questions. It's to help guide you to what you truly want in life. In that split second of your reading the Magic 8 Ball's answer, your brain doesn't have time to think about it and rationalize things out. Your subconsious gives you your immediate sensation and that right there tells you truly what you want.

So pick yourself up a Magic 8 Ball. Can it help you? The answer is in the ball. ;-)
